Beef And Cheese Pie

Ingredients

1 onion, diced

1 packet cottage pie mix

400g tinned tomatoes

1-3 sheets pie pastry

700g beef mince or beef steak pie filling

200g Tatua Cheese Sauce

2 cups fluffy mashed potato

1 Tbsp fresh chopped herbs (rosemary, parsley or thyme)

1/4 cup grated cheese

Method

  1. Line a pie dish with pastry and trim the edges.
  2. Spoon in the pie filling and smooth the top.
  3. Spoon over the Tatua Cheese Sauce.
  4. Add the mashed potato.
  5. Sprinkle with herbs and cheese.
  6. Cook for 35-40 minutes at 180°C until bubbling and golden.
  7. Serve the pie with seasonal salad or vegetables.

Mince filling: Sauté 1 diced onion with 600-700g mince in a little oil, then add one packet cottage pic mix or similar, 1 cup of water and simmer for 10 minutes. You can also add tinned tomatoes or tomato paste, herbs or spicy seasoning.
